Fire Fundraiser to Support Milepost 87 Fire Victims Kicks off July 29

Putting the fun in fundraiser.

The Dalles, OR, July 26, 2023 - This weekend the community of The Dalles is coming together to support the victims of the devastating Milepost 87 fire that struck on June 14h, 2023. Thelda Avila, a dedicated fundraiser organizer and moderator of The Dalles Unedited Happenings Facebook page, has rallied local businesses and volunteers to host a two-day fundraising event filled with music, games, raffles, and delicious food. All proceeds will directly benefit those who lost their homes in the fire. 

The Milepost 87 Fire Fundraiser, will take place at the iconic Granada Theater, located at 221 E 2nd St in downtown The Dalles, Oregon. From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 29th, attendees will enjoy live music by the talented Brain Brackenbury, New Prohibitions and Got Your Six, an all-veteran band, promising an unforgettable afternoon of entertainment and community support.

Meanwhile, right across from the Granada Theater, at the Discounts Plus/Old JC Penny Parking Lot (212 E 2nd St), another engaging activity awaits. Starting at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on July 29th, the Cornhole Tournament Benefit will be in full swing. Individuals can participate in the tournament by contributing an entry fee of $15 for adults and up or $10 for kids.

The Cornhole Tournament offers exciting prizes, including a chance to take home a custom cornhole set for the top winner. Additionally, various gift cards from local businesses are up for grabs, so attendees can look forward to supporting both the fire victims and the vibrant local community.

In conjunction with these events, The Dalles' popular 6th Street Station is hosting a Bollywood Block Party Benefit and Raffle. For an entry and Bindi cost of $8, participants can indulge in an exhilarating Bollywood Face-off. A photo booth will be set up for guests to capture memories of the vibrant celebration.DJ Animal and DJ Bill will perform. 

Thelda Avila, the passionate organizer behind this initiative, has been working tirelessly to make the event a grand success. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this fundraiser possible, including Kimberly Gibson, Andrea D Flores, Cam from 6th St Station, Jodi TePoel, Chris Mumford, Chuck from Granada Theater, Claire Smith Graper, Brian Brackenbury, and the New Prohibitions, among many others.

To show your support, attend the Milepost 87 Fire Fundraiser on July 29th and 30th and take part in the various activities happening across the city. The funds raised will go a long way in assisting the fire victims during their time of need.
