3-2-1 LIFTOFF! NASA Astronaut Col. Jeffrey Williams to Inspire the Gorge with Stellar Tales from Space
Space enthusiasts and curious minds across the Columbia River Gorge are in for a treat as Hood River Middle School prepares to host an evening with NASA Astronaut Col. Jeffrey Williams.

Hood River, Ore., Feb. 28, 2024 — Columbia Gorge Tech Alliance will host “3-2-1 LIFTOFF!” a presentation from NASA Astronaut Col. Jeffrey Williams on Thursday, March 21, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hood River Middle School at 1602 May Street.
Williams, one of NASA’s most seasoned astronauts, will speak to the 534 days he spent in space, offering unique insights into daily life aboard the International Space Station (ISS). He will also share photos of breathtaking vistas, and talk about groundbreaking experiments he witnessed during his time in space.

It's an opportunity for community members to hear directly from someone who has witnessed the Earth from a perspective few have shared and will especially engage those who are fascinated by space exploration and the universe's vast mysteries.
"The Gorge Tech Alliance is absolutely thrilled to welcome NASA Cmdr. Jeffrey Williams to the Gorge,” said Jason Hartmann, project manager with the GTA. “His visit signifies a remarkable opportunity for our community to engage with a true pioneer in space exploration. Cmdr. Williams' presence will undoubtedly inspire our students and ignite their passion for STEM education, a key tenet of the GTA. We are honored to host him as he shares his incredible journey and insights with our schools and community members. This event underscores our commitment to fostering curiosity, innovation, and a love for science in the Gorge region."

Ticket costs are $5 for youth aged 18 and under, and $10 for those 19 and up. But if ticket fees pose a barrier, potential attendees are encouraged to contact jason@crgta.org for scholarship opportunities, ensuring that all interested parties can experience this once-in-a-lifetime event.
