Champions offer a passing of the pitch to TDHS softball phenoms

The Dalles, Ore., May 3, 2024 — It was 72 years ago that three 18-year-old girls walked onto the Sixteenth Street Ballpark. They represented the 1952 Service Motors Women's Softball team that won the Oregon State Softball Championship.

They returned Wednesday, May 1", 2024, to throw out the opening pitch for The Dalles High School Women's Softball team. Their smiles and welcoming reception was genuine, and we sincerely appreciated the honor.

It was through the efforts of The Dalles High School Athletic Department and The Dalles Booster Club that we enjoyed this nostalgic moment. The team spirit of this year's softball team was apparent in their play against Madras.

From the TDHS Athletics Facebook Page: Congratulations to The Dalles Riverhawks Softball program for clinching the 2024 Tri-Valley Conference Softball Championship tonight with a 15-0 victory over Madras! Shout out to senior Zoe LeBreton on hitting a pair of bombs, along with Siyra Faulkner on tossing a perfect game! We are extremely proud of all of you!

We were impressed by the cohesiveness, the athleticism and talent this team possesses. We wish this year's team the very best and, hopefully, we will be able to watch them play for the Oregon State title. Many heartfelt thanks again.
