White Salmon, Klickitat County - This spring, Klickitat County residents and professionals are encouraged to participate in a transformative 5-week “Lunch N' Learn” workshop series aimed at fostering stronger communities. The workshop series, titled "Communities of Care in Klickitat County," begins on on May 31st, 2023. The series will be presented by facilitators from The Next Door, Inc. and generously sponsored by the White Salmon Valley Education Foundation (WSVEF) and Southwest Washington Accountable Community of Health (SWACH). This free event focuses on addressing the unique needs of communities residing in Southwest Washington.

The workshop series aims to create a platform for professionals, as well as residents who provide services in Klickitat County, to connect and exchange valuable resources, tips, and techniques for serving diverse communities throughout the county. Professionals working with youth, parents, caregivers, families, elders, or individuals in rural areas across Klickitat County are warmly welcomed to attend any or all of the five sessions.

Moreover, Klickitat County residents who have experiences, whether positive or negative, in accessing resources within rural communities, such as food or transportation, are also encouraged to participate and share their insights.

The weekly sessions will delve into various thought-provoking topics including the practical implementation of "Communities of Care," establishing relationships and discovering resources in rural communities, recognizing the unique needs of diverse communities across Klickitat County, and exploring ways to assist our neighbors in accessing the necessary tools and resources within our communities.

Interested individuals are advised to secure their spot by registering in advance. To sign up, participants can get in touch with Eve Elderwell at evee@nextdoorinc.org or (808) 769-8061, or contact Carolyn Rhett at kma7280@outlook.com for further information.

The sessions will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on five consecutive Wednesdays, commencing on May 31st and continuing on June 7th, June 14th, June 21st, and June 28th. The venue for this empowering event is the White Salmon Grange located at 1085 N Main Ave in White Salmon. Participants will be provided with a complimentary lunch during each session.
