By Cole Goodwin

The Dalles, Ore., February 21, 2024 – Gorge Roller Derby will host their first bout of the season at the Fort Dalles Readiness Center in The Dalles, on Saturday, February 24, 2024. And it’s a double header! The Allstars will vs. Lilac City Sass at 4 p.m. followed by Blood N Gorge vs Lilac City Yetis at 6 p.m.

The event promises intense competition as these talented derby teams battle it out on the track.

“We have been working hard this season and are excited to showcase some new offensive strategies. Home bouts are a great opportunity to be with your neighbors from across the gorge and cheer us on- we’re only scary if you’re the other team,” said Coach IrmaGRD.

This bout is sponsored by Windermere and will also help to fundraise for Culture Seed, a non-profit that offers long-term outdoor immersion and mentorship with a focus on mental health for underserved youth in the Columbia River Gorge.

“Every bout we feature an amazing local non-profit that works directly in our local communities. This bout we are fundraising for Culture Seed- 100% of our raffle basket funds go directly to Culture Seed, who will also be in attendance and providing more information on the incredible work they lead,” said a Gorge Roller Derby spokesperson.

“There will be beer, wine, and cider from GRD sponsors (Double Mountain Brewing, Freebridge Brewing, Everybody’s Brewing, and Wy’East Vineyards). Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Smoke Wring Barbecue will be there serving food as well,” added the spokesperson.

“We love home games because it’s my people- it’s our communities coming together to support GRD and a great cause!” added AfterMath.

The bout is also an opportunity for fans to meet the GRD Junior League.

“We are growing our junior league- who will be in attendance and getting ready for their first home bout of the season this April! Come out and meet these incredible junior skaters!” said Fleetwood Smack.
