Mowing down Mountains
Mike Morena, 36, of The Dalles controls a Tracmow remote control lawnmower at Dry Hollow Elementary this morning, Wednesday, March 31. The mower on tracks is capable of cutting the steep hillsides at the school, while the operator can safely walk behind it. Mowing the front hill at Dry Hollow and steep banks at other schools has been a difficult task for decades. District 21 purchased this mower last fall, eliminating the issue. Morena, originally of The Dalles, said he and his wife Amanda, moved back from Alaska last fall. The couple has a three-year-old and another child on the way. Amanda Morena is a teacher at The Dalles Middle School.
