The Dalles, Ore., May 9, 2024 — In the early 1970s, the Bigfoot craze hit The Dalles with the opening of The Bigfoot Exhibition brought to us by Peter Byrne of Dublin, Ireland, who wrote the book “The Search for Bigfoot.”

The Boston Academy of Applied Sciences began bankrolling Byrne, who was able to establish a Bigfoot Information Center near The Dalles, Oregon. This effort continued for 9 years, from 1970-1979. During that time, Byrne appeared on "In Search Of..." and also his own short documentary, titled "Manbeast: Myth or Monster" in 1978,” according to sasquatchodyssey.com

So friends, tell us where the exhibition was located - hint - it was next to a “ghostly” restaurant.

Send your answers to tom@cccnews.com by Sunday, May 12 at 6 p.m. and correct answers will be entered into a raffle for a sweet prize - a $25 gift certificate to Shannon’s Ice Cream at 318, E. Fourth Street, The Dalles - across from the Civic Auditorium. Shannon and Jonathon keep the shop open seven days a week from noon to 9 p.m. for your homemade hankerings.

Shannon’s Ice Cream can’t wait to award this week’s smarty pants. Winner, Winner Ice Cream dinner!

Mary Collins of The Dalles was last weeks winner for identifiying the A & W on West Second Street. The A & W name comes from its founders last name initials - Roy Allen and Frank Wright.
