The Hood River-White Salmon Bridge Authority today announced that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has formally issued its Record of Decision (ROD), marking a major milestone in the effort to replace the century-old Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge. 

A full week of live music, film nights, dance events and community gatherings fills the Gorge from Nov. 18–24, with shows spanning The Dalles, Hood River, Cascade Locks and Trout Lake.

Community Roots Wellness Hub in White Salmon offers a collaborative space where community members can access mental-health therapy, trauma-informed care, youth support services and wrap-around wellness resources, all designed to meet families where they’re at.

Many people are filled with happy anticipation as the holidays approach. For those who have experienced a significant loss, this is often not the case. Aware that the person who died will not be with them, the holiday season can intensify feelings of sadness, isolation, anxiety, and loss for those who grieve. It can be difficult to decide what to do.

Klickitat County Childcare Committee (KCCC) has supported the development of a new childcare business in the White Salmon area. It is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen local infrastructure, providing families with more options.

Live music, spooky screenings, and costume parties light up the Gorge this week, from salsa nights and the Rocky Horror 50th anniversary to Funkship’s Halloween dance party, Thunder Island’s Fall Market, and The Granada’s Spooktober Film Festival.

As the shutdown drags on and inflation lingers near 3%, Oregonians from The Dalles to Hood River joined the nationwide “No Kings” protests, denouncing creeping authoritarianism, stalled relief, and the widening cost burden facing working families.

Local residents in the Columbia River Gorge will join “millions” of Americans nationwide in a coordinated day of nonviolent protest for the second No Kings Day of Action on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Protests are planned for The Dalles, Hood River, White Salmon, Stevenson, Hermiston, and Pendleton.

The City of White Salmon will begin roadwork at the intersection of NE Estes Avenue and NE Spring Street starting Tuesday, October 1, 2025. The work is expected to last approximately one week, weather and soil conditions permitting.
