Gorge Delivering on Flower Power

Gorge Delivering on Flower Power

Wednesday, March 21 was a technicolor knockout in the Gorge with temperatures above 70 degrees and those oh-so-special daylight savings extending afternoon activities.

Tom McCall Point Trail atop Rowena Loops was bustling with activity as sightseers and hikers took the trails to stumble on fields of purple, yellow and crimson. Lomatium or Columbia Desert Parsley was in full bloom in many locations as well as what appeared to be wild crocus and a variety of wild daisies.

And it’s just the beginning. Balsamroot and Lupin are quickly growing from their dead stalks from last year and will be putting on a show shortly.

Spring Breakers cut a nice break this year as the weatherman is calling for temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s from now through the weekend.

Lomatium or Columbia Desert Parsley is already putting on a show in the Gorge.
