The Dalles Country Club is hosting an outdoor public, “Concert for the Course” featuring Hit Machine on Saturday, May 11th from 7 to 10 p.m. The concert is an important fund-raising effort to support the maintenance and improvements necessary to The Dalles Country Club.
Residents of The Dalles and the Columbia River Gorge were treated to a stunning and rare celestial phenomenon on March 21st: a lunar halo.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Columbia River Gorge including the cities of The Dalles, Dufur, Maupin, Hood River, Underwood, Stevenson, Carson, Corbett, and Cascade Locks. The warning remains in effect from 8 a.m. on February 14 until 10 p.m. on Thursday the 15th. A weather advisory has also been issued for the Simcoe Highlands from Feb. 14-16.
The City of the Dalles, The City of Hood River, and Wasco County Offices are closed today due to inclement weather as a winter storm has brought ice, snow, and freezing rain to large swaths of the Northwest. Tough driving conditions look to continue as heavy snow and ice will move toward thawing and freezing as temps reach above freezing during daytime hours.
The National Weather Service has issues a winter storm watch and wind advisory for the Eastern Columbia River Gorge, Simcoe Highlands, and the lower slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest. The storm watch remains in effect from the morning of Thursday Jan. 11 until Jan 14.
With a winter storm bringing predicted low temperatures and potentially heavy snowfall in the coming days, the public is encouraged to take steps to prepare as much as possible. Please visit North Central Public Health.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for North Central Oregon and Southern Washington. A wind advisory for the will be in effect from 4 p.m. January 9, 2024 until 10 a.m. until 4 a.m. Wednesday January 10.
Winter has officially arrived in the Columbia River Gorge! Yesterday, November 30th, marked the first wide spread snowfall of the season, with between 2”-6” of snow being reported gorge wide.
The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for the Eastern Columbia River Gorge and Southern Washington. The warning will remain in affect from midnight on October 27, 2023 until 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023.
The Sorosis Park rehabilitation project has hit a new milestone today. The North Wasco County Parks and Recreation District (NWPRD) has successfully secured an Oregon State Parks grant amounting to $420,000, which will cover 60% of the estimated $700,000 replacement cost for the TreeTop playground structure at Sorosis Park. NWPRD will cover the remaining 40% of the cost, meaning the project to replace the TreeTop play structure is now fully funded.

Victorino Rodriguez beat the cold this morning, Feb. 24, as he lit off a long line of cherry wood pruned from McClaskey Orchards next to Highway 197 just south of Auction Sales Company in The Dalles. The 39-year-old from The Dalles warms his back here in this photo. He originally hails from the state of Durango, Mexico, where average temperatures range in the 70s during the day and the 30s at night in February. The National Weather Service in Portland, OR has issued a wind chill warning for the Western Columbia River Gorge region, including the cities of Corbett, Rooster Rock, Multnomah Falls, Cascade Locks, North Bonneville, and Stevenson. The warning will remain in effect from midnight tonight, Wednesday 22,2023 until noon PST on Friday the 24th.
The shelter will operate Thursday-Monday, check in time is from 6-8 p.m.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the Columbia River Gorge 4p.m. December 22nd to 4 a.m. on December 25th.
The National Weather service has issued a winter storm warning for the central and western Columbia River Gorge from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on December 8th. The storm warning does not extend into the Eastern Gorge, as only a half inch of snow is forecasted to fall in The Dalles, OR today.
A community member who is experiencing houselessness has been hospitalized due severe hypothermia from prolonged exposure to the winter weather. City of The Dalles Police, community members, local health services, the Department of Human Services, and Mid-Columbia Community Action Council responded to the incident in a timely manner resulting in the administering of lifesaving care and securing shelter for the individual.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in the Central and Western Columbia River Gorge from 4 p.m. Nov 29th to mid morning Nov. 30th.
In light of the forecasted winter weather this coming week, the Wasco County Clerk's Office, in conjunction with The Dalles Rotary Club, has canceled the 5th Street Ballot Drive-Thru Collection on Tuesday, November 8th.
