Michelina and David Roth co-founded Fair Planet Advisors because they wanted to bring SRI (Socially Responsible Investing), also called ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) financial services to the Gorge. Working with your investments, retirement plans, college savings, insurance, etc., they take the time to find out what matters to you and design a personalized plan for financial success.
Their initial values exercise identifies each client’s goals and helps them consider not only what they want to divest from, but also how they choose to invest in positive ways. The next steps include a full financial evaluation, a risk assessment, and culminate in a fully customized financial plan.
SRI/ESG concepts are not new, as divestment is a powerful tool for social change. In the United States, as early as 200 years ago, people chose divestment from things like tobacco and weapons for religious reasons. In the 1960s, divestment was an effective response to global political events. Current developments have significantly improved the ability to customize a client’s portfolio to match the issues that matter to them.
Fair Planet Advisors is based in White Salmon with an office in Hood River. Dave, a Behavioral Financial AdvisorTM, has been in the financial industry for over 25 years, the last seven providing Comprehensive Financial Planning and Investments. Michelina joined the team two years ago bringing her passion for protecting People and Planet.
They live in White Salmon with their three children and are thankful to call the Gorge home and to be able to participate in activities they enjoy, like hiking, camping, fishing, skiing and so much more. They are passionate about protecting our planet so that future generations can also enjoy this beautiful Earth.
They are excited to host this column which over the next few months will delve further into SRI investing and also discuss questions like: SRI Performance Myths, Self Funding Pensions, When Can I Retire?, Is My Account Too Small?
