Riverhawks Athletics hosted a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony on Thursday, January 11th at 3 p.m. in the main lobby of TDHS for Kaleyah and Kaleiani Crichton-Tunai as they commited to Mt. Hood Community College to continue their academic and athletic careers.
Following the disappointing cancellation of a long awaited meet in the Wallowas, The Dalles High School Cross Country pulled together to set twenty-five personal bests at the Oregon City Invitational.
Work ethic leads to some personal records for Riverhawk Tracksters as they competed on Friday in Canby. The attitude was apparently contagious as the most memorable entries were from the athletes who were just plain willing to try. And try hard.
As random as a field near Heppner may seem, and despite the crunchy stubble underfoot, the course is remarkably flat and forgiving; the home team, coached by Russ Nichols, is consistently strong and competitive: both good reasons why over a dozen teams, including the Riverhawks, TDMS Wildcats, and St. Mary’s- came to run the Mustang Invitational last Thursday.
If you’re looking for a fast time, the course up at Sorosis Park in The Dalles might not be at the top of your list. Uneven hills throughout the park, plus the infamous “college hill” next to CGCC, make it among the toughest cross country races in the state. If you’re looking for a good time, though, it might be the right course for you.
