The Dalles Riverhawks varsity girls soccer team played The Pendleton Buckaroos at on Tuesday, March 23rd at 4:30 PM, and they played a phenomenal game. The team played some tough defense and quick offense.

It was their 5th game of the season, and they scored a big win.

The first goal actually came from the Buckaroos at the 38-minute mark. The score came from a quick crossing kick that came from the right-wing of the field and hit into the left side of the net. The Dalles didn’t seem prepared for it and came off a little slow. But after that, the defense stepped it up big time.

The Dalles came right back and almost exactly two minutes later got a shot themselves but missed with Pendleton’s goalie making a save. The next 15 minutes would be a defensive battle with both teams holding each other near the midfield but at the 23-minute mark, the Buckaroos committed a foul. That left Senior and team captain Courtney Hert to get a direct free kick from the side. She then kicked it in off a Pendleton player scoring a goal. That had the game at 1-1 until the half

Coming out of the second half, the Riverhawks looked fantastic. Their defense was top-notch and let the Buckaroos do nothing on offense. Pendleton could barely contain The Dalles’s offense leading them to be pretty tired. The Dalles then scored at the 27-minute mark with freshman Amyrah Hill kicking it in. Before you know it, about a minute later, the Riverhawks scored again with sophomore Lyris Voodre-Grover hitting with the tough goal and leaving the game at 3-1 Riverhawks leading. The Riverhawks defense would hold out the rest of the game, and the winning score was 3-1 as time expired. The Riverhawks shot the ball on goal 8 times and the Buckaroos 4.

With that win, The Dalles is now 3-2. They have an away game on Thursday, March 25th against Ridgeview High In Redmond at 4:30 PM.
